About UNE

UNE is a Cheshire-based electro duo consisting of BBC radio broadcaster, writer and musician Mark Radcliffe and tech boffin, remixer and DJ Paul Langley.

Radcliffe celebrated his fortieth year in radio last year and has worked on local radio in Manchester as well as nationally with BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, Radio 5 Live and 6Music. He has released many albums with his bands The Shirehorses, The Family Mahone and Galleon Blast and is also the author of five best-selling books. Mark is in remission from head and neck cancer and ‘loving life’.

Langley was a long time habitue of Manchester’s legendary Hacienda where he was a regular dj fixture in the company of his brother Bobby. Signed to Rob’s Records, the label launched by New Order manager the late Rob Gretton, Paul honed his recording, programming and mixing skills working closely with the Factory Records family.

UNE have released three albums: ‘Lost’, ‘Deux’ and most recently ‘Spomenik’. Released last year ‘Deux’ is a lush song suite featuring such guests as John Cooper Clarke and Gary Kemp. ‘Spomenik’ was also unleashed in 2021 and is a concept piece inspired by the abstract-expressionist war memorials of the former Yugoslavia which Electronic Sound magazine praised as ‘icy, brutalist electronica with a pervading sense of minimalist bleakness’. Their records have received rave reviews and widespread airplay including on BBC 6music and Radio 2.

The UNE live experience is an intoxicating blend of sumptuous soundtracks and atmospheric projections which has graced many stages including festival appearances at Bluedot, Loopallu, Cotton Clouds, Kendal Calling and Beautiful Days.

Mark and Paul recently took delivery of their matching bespoke suits in tribute to their style icons Gilbert and George.
